George Clooney isn’t just a movie star and a two-time People’s Sexiest Man Alive, he’s a notorious prankster, and he recently revealed a trick that he and Julia Roberts played on one of his friends, actor Richard Kind.
The duo appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday to promote their new movie “Ticket to Paradise,” and quickly delved into a behind-the-scenes story from when they were filming “Ocean’s Eleven” and were staying at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. “It was literally like a bunch of eight-year olds got in,” said Clooney before explaining what happened when Kind visited.
“We were staying down in these rooms down at the bottom of the casino, and we had a rollaway bed for Richard,” Clooney shared. “We were all up drinking and talking… and Richard falls asleep on his rollaway bed.”
Roberts added on, reminding her costar that Kind fell asleep “whilst we're all kind of chatting! We're having a little cocktail party around him in his cot.”
Clooney then admitted that the group took advantage of their location for an epic prank. “We take the cot, and we wheel it up into the middle of the casino and leave him there” surrounded by “a lot of like, old ladies” playing slots.
Roberts also shared that she and Clooney became “instant friends” while filming the 2001 caper. “You know you just meet people and sometimes you think ‘I really don’t like that person, I have no reason not to like them, I don’t like them and I will never change my mind.’ Then there’s some people,” she said while pointing at Clooney, “who you go ‘OK, I’m going to know this person until the end of time, this is a good one.’”

But as Richard Kind can attest, being good friends with Clooney means you’re likely to be a target for his pranks. Kimmel asked Roberts if Clooney leaves her out of his pranks, to which she quickly replied “leave me out?! Excuse me, did you recall in the list of cast members of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’? I’m the only girl! I was like shooting fish in a barrel, I would fall for everything.”
However, Roberts got her revenge, and “put plastic over the toilet seats,” said Clooney. Roberts then explained that the trick to “cellophaning the toilets” is to “dim the lights or unscrew the light bulbs because if they come in and turn on a bright hotel light it will shine off the cellophane and ruin the joke.”
