It’s hard to believe "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" first premiered on ABC 25 years ago.

To celebrate the anniversary, Melissa Joan Hart, who famously played Sabrina Spellman, took to Instagram on Monday to commemorate the show that captivated viewers nationwide from 1996 through 2003 and earned a spot in many people’s childhood TV memories.

"It's been brought to my attention that 25 years ago today, Sept 27, 1996, our show first aired on ABC for 7 seasons," Hart, 45, captioned a slideshow of throwback photos from the show with former cast members. "The little engine that could we called it since it was in the shadows of the largely anticipated show #Clueless but it persevered and we got to steal @reddonovan to come over to our fun cast."

She continued, "Tons of talented guest stars, musical acts and magic tv tricks over the years. Full of friendships and crazy memories, it was an incredible ride to be sure! Thanks for the love and support to help us do what we love to do, make people smile!! Happy #SabrinatheTeenageWitch Day!"

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” followed the life of sixteen-year-old Sabrina Spellman who discovers she is a witch, and comes from a long line of witches. Her magical powers include the ability to fly on a broom and speak to her black cat named Salem.

Other cast members included Caroline Rhea, Beth Broderick, Nick Bakay, Nate Richert, Jenna Leigh Green, Martin Mull, Lindsay Sloane, David Lascher, Soleil Moon Frye, Elisa Donovan and Trevor Lissauer. In February of 2020, the former cast met for reunion at a coffee shop in Los Angeles.

The first four seasons of "Sabrina" aired on ABC from 1996 to 2000. The show aired its final three seasons on The WB from 2000 to 2003. During its four-year run on ABC, "Sabrina" was a ratings hit on the network's TGIF line-up.

In 2018, Netflix rebooted the series with Kiernan Shipka as the titular character. The update, entitled "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," took on a darker tone and dealt with the occult and Sabrina's connection to the Dark Lord. The final season premiered in December 2020.
