While this is the twelfth year that Youtube will be live streaming concerts from Coachella, both music giants are promising a “first-of-its-kind concert experience” for fans who can’t make it in person. The Coachella Live Stream Experience promises exclusive merch, backstage content, and for the first time ever, a multiview concert screen. Just like sports superfans, concert streamers will be able to view up to four Coachella stages at once via a split screen. They can then swap between each concert’s audio, so there’s no need to pick between artists.
And that’s a lifesaver when considering the lineup for this year’s 2024 festival. Headliners Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, the Creator are only the tip of the iceberg, with other performances set to include Sabrina Carpenter, Ice Spice, J. Balvin, Bleachers, Sublime, and more.
“Bringing multiview to Coachella is a great example of how our work on NFL Sunday Ticket will benefit all users across YouTube,” said Ali Rivera, the head of YouTube’s live music and artist partnerships. “While the living room has traditionally been a ‘lean back’ experience, we’re seeing that when a viewer is excited about the content, they lean in.”
The Live Stream experience is also set to include shopping features, where exclusive merch from the likes of Bleachers, Ice Spice, and J. Balvin will be available for purchase within the app. And in true streaming fashion, there will be a live chat for all worldwide Coachella viewers to talk and fangirl over the performances.
With all that awesome, how do you tune in? The live stream will begin with Coachella’s first weekend on Friday, April 12 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET until Sunday night, April 14. Weekend two will start again at the same time on April 19 and again run until closing time that Sunday. Oh, and the streams don’t end with the concerts - as the Coachella Youtube Channel will replay that day’s lineup until the next concert day begins.
