With 50 weird years of making music and performing for millions of fans in their rearview, Ohio's own DEVO have made the decision to close the chapter on their touring career.

in a new interview with The Guardian, frontman Mark Mothersbaugh likened the experience of working and touring with DEVO over the last half a century to that of a four-way marriage, explaining, "Imagine you had four wives and you worked together. It’s tricky being in a band."
With just a handful of dates left to go on their Farewell Tour, Mothersbaugh adds he's actually “looking forward to 2073,″ when the group can take the stage once again to “play 100th anniversary Devo shows and then maybe retire.” As for bass player Gerald Casale, he says it's “mind-boggling” the band has been around for so long, adding he's currently “in denial” that these will be their final concerts. “I love performing and I’ll hate to see it go," Casale sayys. "[Live shows were] part of DEVO’s DNA. But we did as well as we could, for as long as we could.”
The group just wrapped up their final, sold-out European shows last week and will be arriving on this side of the pond in September for their two-day DEVOtional 2023 Fan Convention ahead of their scheduled concert dates which begin in November. The band is also set to perform at Australia's Good Things Festival in early December.
