Before making it big in music, Brett Young was a very good baseball player, and he's applied many of the lessons he learned from the sport into his music career.
“I think there’s a lot of parallels, but I think the one that transfers over the most is the work ethic that you learn when you play a competitive sport at that level," he shares in a statement from his label. "I turned down professional baseball to go to college, but then I played at the D1 level, which is still very demanding.
"And you learn this work ethic that is kind of like none other," he continues. "So, there’s this kind of tenacity that I think comes from my sports background, that just transferred immediately over to, if you’re gonna go for it, you better expect a lot out of yourself.
"It gives you the ability to not take no for an answer, and I think that was like a really big thing for me.”
