Ahead of his performance at this year's CMA Fest, taking place June 9 through 12 in Nashville and airing Wednesday, August 3 at 8PM ET /7PM CT on ABC, singer Travis Denning took a look back at some of his most memorable fan interactions while chatting backstage with Audacy host Katie Neal.
LISTEN: Travis Denning talks fan memories @ CMA Fest
Travis, performing June 9 at the 2022 CMA Fest, tells Katie that "even today, I signed a man's chest... bare chest," leading her to rightly wonder, "what is he gonna do with that?" Admittedly, Travis has signed plenty of body parts, "as far as legs and arms and stuff like that," he says. "I dunno... that may be crazy."
Another memory he offered was after one of his recent concerts in North Carolina was rescheduled, and since he had nothing better to do, Travis says he decided to do some karaoke with fans that he ran into -- and even gave them upgraded seats for the updated date. "My go-to karaoke song is 'Brown Chicken, Brown Cow," by Trace Adkins -- but you also gotta feel the crowd a little bit, and it was rockin', so I went with the smash hit "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas... nobody ever expects "Brown Chicken, Brown Cow!"
Travis was recently engaged in a beautiful Central Park proposal in New York, and has been embracing all of the tasty planning chores that come along. Playlists are also being considered; "she's doing all that," Travis admits, "but there are some songs like... none of my songs, none of John Michael's songs, none of Walker's songs, none of uncle Eddie's songs!" For those unaware: Travis is engaged to wed to "I Swear" singer John Michael Montgomery's daughter, Madison, just one of many reasons why so many of his songs will likely be chosen for their wedding playlist!
