HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Astros manager Dusty Baker said Michael Brantley is still not ready to rejoin the club after playing in back-to-back games for the first time since starting his second rehab assignment last week.
"I told him let us know when he's ready," Baker said Thursday. "He's chomping at the bit, but at the same time we can't afford losing him again, so sometimes you can't do anything about Father Time as much as you want with the schedule winding down."
Baker met with Brantley on Thursday morning and said the outfielder, who hasn't played in a Major League game since June 26, 2022 after undergoing right shoulder surgery, will play for Triple-A Sugar Land again on Friday and Saturday.
"We'll make another determination at that point," Baker said.
