(SportsRadio 610) - Astros star right fielder Kyle Tucker lost his arbitration case against the team this offseason.
Tucker, 26, who earned his first All-Star appearance and Gold Glove Award this past season, petitioned for $7.5 million. But the Astros won the case to pay him $5 million in 2023.
The goal has to be landing a long term contract with Tucker, a key piece to the Astros' World Series core.
He is the third-most valuable right fielder in baseball, according to FanGraphs' wins above replacement (WAR), behind only Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts.
On Payne & Pendergast this week, Seth and Sean dive into Tucker losing his arbitration, Jose Altuve being happy that the Astros want him to retire with Houston, and discuss which extension they're most confident will actually happen.
