Former Texans linebacker Blake Cashman to sign with Minnesota Vikings

The Texans will have to replace their leading tackler after losing him in free agency.

Linebacker Blake Cashman is signing with the Minnesota Vikings, his hometown team, on a three-year deal worth up to $25.5 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.

Cashman just wrapped up his fifth NFL season, the second with Houston, and it was easily his best one yet. In the four seasons prior to 2023, Cashman started in eight games total, including five in his rookie season with the New York Jets.

Last season, Cashman started 13 games and recorded a team-high 106 tackles. He is the second Texans starting defensive player to leave for the Vikings in free agency Monday.

Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, who led the Texans with 12.5 sacks last season, agreed to a four-year deal with Minnesota worth $76 million, including $42 million guaranteed.
