The Texans are bringing back tight end Dalton Schultz not only for the upcoming season, but through 2027.
They agreed to a one-year contract extension worth $12.6 million, NFL Network reported Friday.
Schultz is coming off his best season with the Texans after logging 777 receiving yards on 82 catches. He is one of quarterback C.J. Stroud's most reliable and trusted targets over the last three seasons.
The challenge for Houston will be addressing the depth behind Schultz. Cade Stover had an underwhelming second season as he battled through injuries. Brevin Jordan missed his second straight season with an injury.
Schultz is the guy at the top as far as Texans tight ends go, but they will need to find someone who can help him carry the load.
