(SportsRadio 610) -- Texans rookie wide receiver Nico Collins is the newest addition to the position group, but he doesn't strike his peers as a first-year player.

Standing at about 6'4", 215 pounds, Collins is one of the more imposing figures in the wide receiver room. His size adds an element the Texans did not have at receiver last year, someone with a big catch radius who can go grab 50-50 balls.

It will be interesting to see how much Collins, 22, contributes to the Texans in his first NFL season after opting out at Michigan last year due to the pandemic.

While Collins is the second player the Texans drafted this year, general manager Nick Caserio traded picks to move up 30 spots to select him.

With Will Fuller gone to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, there's a void Collins and newcomer Chris Conley will need to fill.

Brandin Cooks, who led the Texans last year with 1,150 receiving yards on 81 catches last season, was asked about Collins on Thursday after an organized training session at NRG.

"First and foremost, as we know, Will was an explosive player for us and I'm going to miss him, but at the end of the day, we've got guys that are going to be able to hopefully fill that void in Nico and Chris (Conley) I mean, I can go down the line," Cooks said. "I mean this guy (Nico) doesn't look like no rookie to me. You talk about a guy who's out there that's coachable and able to pick up things pretty fast. You love to see that from a young guy. The guy's explosive, natural hands. I look forward to continuing to work with him and seeing him grow."
