Despite having a 12-7 second-half lead at home over the Denver Broncos, the Texans could not finish the job and fell 18-15 on a last second field goal.
Granted, they were forced to go without their starting quarterback and right tackle for more than half of the game.
Both C.J. Stroud and Tytus Howard were ruled out after sustaining a concussion in the second quarter of Sunday's game.
In their places were backup quarterback Davis Mills and swing tackle Blake Fisher, respectively. Additionally, linebacker Christian Harris was ruled out with a shin injury.
The Texans did not score a single touchdown in this game. All 15 of their points came on five field goals by Ka'imi Fairbairn.
Houston was 3-for-17 on third down and 0-for-3 on red zone trips. The Broncos were not much better, outgaining the Texans by just three yards on 11 fewer plays.
But Denver was much better on third down and actually scored touchdowns on a pair of explosive plays, a 30-yard touchdown to Courtland Sutton in the second quarter and a 27-yarder to RJ Harvey in the fourth quarter.
The Broncos also completed the two-point conversion to Troy Franklin, which tied the game at 15.
Then with three seconds left in a tie game, Wil Lutz nailed a game-winning 34-yard field goal.
