Texans defensive end Dylan Horton announced Monday he had been diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's lymphoma and that he is currently in remission.
Horton, who the Texans drafted in the fourth round last year out of TCU, played in 10 games his rookie season before being diagnosed Dec. 1.
"I am grateful for the love from my family and friends, and support from the Texans organization and my doctors," Horton said in a statement issued by the team. "My next objective is to complete my treatments, then get back to playing the game that I love. Thank you for your prayers and support as I continue this journey."
Horton recorded 13 tackles, two quarterback hits and recovered a fumble in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Unfortunately, Horton is the second Texans draft pick in as many years to battle cancer. Wide receiver John Metchie III missed his rookie season after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Aside from his role on the field, best wishes to Horton in his recovery.
