LeSean McCoy's first NFL head coach was Andy Reid, after the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. After being released by the Buffalo Bills Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter says McCoy is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, meaning his career could end with Reid as his coach.

Though McCoy was one of Saturday's more surprising cuts, the two-time All-Pro is coming off the worst season of his 10-year NFL career. The man affectionately referred to as "Shady" averaged just 3.2 yards-per-carry in 2018, marking the first time in his career he averaged less than four yards a carry in his NFL career.

McCoy, who has never won a playoff game in his career, will join a Chiefs team with Super Bowl aspirations. A year ago, the Chiefs lost the AFC Championship Game to the New England Patriots after losing the coin flip in overtime and not ultimately getting to touch the ball. Still, they return the reigning NFL MVP in Patrick Mahomes and McCoy will join a crowded backfield that already includes Damien Williams, Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams.

Beyond looking to have notable team success for the first time in his career, McCoy is trying to add onto a resume that will draw Hall of Fame consideration at the conclusion of his career. McCoy enters the season just 400 career rushing yards shy of 11,000. Of the 21 running backs in NFL history with 11,000 or more rushing yards, 15 are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson are locks to make lengthen that list when they ultimately retire.

Week 1's Chiefs-Jacksonville Jaguars matchup was already highlighted on RADIO.COM's most intriguing games of the NFL's first week, as Nick Foles will make his Jaguars debut against Reid, who coached him both in Philadelphia and Kansas City. Now McCoy - who ran for a career-high 1,607 yards in 2013 with Foles at quarterback under Chip Kelly - adds another layer of intrigue to the tilt.
