Deshaun Watson continues to attend Houston Texans training camp in what is truly one of the most unusual situations in recent memory.
Watson is stuck on a team he does not want to play for while simultaneously facing lawsuits and an investigation from the NFL into alleged sexual misconduct with massage therapists.
Former Houston Oilers quarterback and Hall of Famer Warren Moon is hoping that he can reach out and be of any kind of help.
“I have not communicated with him lately, but I think I need to now that he’s in camp,” Moon recently told TMZ Sports. “And hopefully he’ll be available to do that because I know he’s kind of kept his camp very, very small since this whole thing happened, which I don’t blame him for.
“But I’d like to reach out to him and just make sure he’s doing OK and how he’s getting through this whole thing.”
Watson has not been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list and must attend camp or face a daily fine of $50,000.
The 25-year-old has not been taking snaps as quarterback, though, and has instead been playing scout team defensive back or running back in the first week of camp.
Watson may be waiting for a trade to happen, but that could be difficult as interested teams also must weigh the investigation and seriousness of the allegations he faces.
