Choosing to let your clothes line dry instead of using a machine helps in our efforts towards sustainability

Today is National Hanging Out Day, and while that might make you think it's time to chill with a beer in the backyard, it's actually a day to remind all of us to do our part in being more sustainable. Today is a day to celebrate letting our clothes "hang out" to dry. (Which you can do while chilling with a beer in the backyard).

According to Project Laundry List, when we choose to line dry over a machine we conserve energy, reduce pollution, make our clothes last longer and save money.


You don't need a big yard to line dry, you can create a space in almost any room in your home. All you need is some string, some clothes pins and a couple screws or nails.

If you do have a yard, even a small one, consider hanging a clothesline for your sheets, skirts and jeans this Spring. Not only does it help with our efforts to improve the environment, but there's really nothing like the scent of clothing left to dry in the breeze.
