Playhouse Square is back, and the 2021-2022 Keybank Broadway Series is officially underway!

I had the chance to go see The Prom last night..my first time at Playhouse Square in a little over 2 years.
I was a bit nervous with the Covid-19 protocols in place, but everything was executed perfectly. You show your vaccination card or proof of a negative test, and you're on your way. Masks are required.
The show is incredible. I was a part of the drama and music programs in my high school, and this brought back all of the feels.
I am a huge fan of the Netflix movie of the same title. Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman and more. The live show met my expectations.
The music is simple, yet moving. The story is easy to follow, yet exhibits depth.
It's about a young woman who is denied going to her prom because she is a lesbian. At times, the storyline feels outdated because we have all moved on from this storyline of acceptance..Until I realize this is still a topic in mainstream society, unfortunately.
The music, the dialogue..How minds are changed are what really shine in this show. We are all just trying to figure life out, and having grace towards one another is really the lesson that should be taken away from this high-energy show.
The Prom is playing at Playhouse Square through November 21st.
