I had the chance to see Some Like It Hot at PlayhouseSquare last night.
While I wasn't initially thrilled with going, I kept an open mind.
I think we’re all jaded in life sometimes.
I remember going to Disneyworld a few years ago and everyone was happy and smiling and when I arrived it was overwhelming.
And then I settled in, and I completely enjoyed the escape.
This is one of those throwback shows. Everyone dancing and singing their lines.. I rolled my eyes, and then raised my eyebrows.
The story takes place in 1933. Prohibition . A couple of guys who witness a mob hit, and have to flee so they don’t get caught. There is a ton of dancing, singing and more. And everyone’s lives become intertwined.
If you have kids, leave them at home.
If you have a parent, take them immediately.
The costumes, music, and spectacle of it all was overwhelming and yet intoxicating.
It is old school, which sometimes is the best school.
In fairness, the second half was about 20 minutes too long, but the PlayhouseSquare pretzels make it a perfect night out at the theatre.
Some modern storylines, mixed with everything that made theatre
in the past extraordinary.
A wonderfully entertaining night that you need to experience right now!
Some Like It Hot is playing at the Connor Palace through November 24th.
