Glenn's Review of The Wiz at Playhouse Square

The Wiz is back at Playhouse Square, and it's incredible.

This is the first Pre-Broadway tour of the show in 40 years and it's more relevant than ever.

It follows the story of The Wizard of Oz, with all of the familiar characters. It's just bumped up about 100 notches in terms of dialogue, music, and fun.

We took our boys with us, ages 11 and 9. They were literally on the edge of their collective seats..Laughing and looking all around throughout the show.

It is a show that requires you to look all around. The opening number reminded us all of The Princess and The Frog. Colorful costumes and high energy.

Plenty of engaging and funny dialogue, and the lines we all were expecting were all there..Just ramped up and funnier.

What really blew me away was the intensity and spot on vocals of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. The witches were even better. It was like watching The Voice and yet there was no clear winner, since they were all simply amazing.

I'm so glad this show is here for us all to enjoy. My wife saw this show in Washington D.C a few years back and said this production blows that one away. Please go see it before it eases down to another city.

The Wiz is playing at Playhouse Square through October 22nd.
