One word I see thrown around a lot is "authenticity"
My kids want authentic NBA jerseys...
We want authentic Mexican food,..
The hypocrisy comes when we look for authenticity in people, and are met with their version of what the word means. Often, it's someone trying to be liked or validated.
Wanting to be liked or validated is a normal human desire, but when it comes at the cost of someone else's emotions, that's where it becomes a slippery slope.
Politicians say or do things to get them elected. Campaign "promises" are just words at the end of the day. You want change, we got it.
Anyone using a dating app knows that "has a temper, owns a hairless cat, and uses a teeth-whitening hair-adding gut-reducing filter...are all missing from the "about me" section...
So, how do we find the truly authentic people we want as friends and lovers?
We wait...
We all put our best foot forward..But if that foot has a nail that looks like a frito on the big toe, you'll discover it during sandal season.
We wait..
And we find ways to be more authentic with ourselves.
We make decisions that align with what we believe in.
We don't compromise those beliefs to fit-in.
We fit in passionate things...that make us all-in.
Authenticity brings self-esteem and a greater joy in life because you're not faking it.
Speaking of being authentic, The Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell is back!! Get it on the authentic Taco Bell app today
All my best as you figure out life and the relationships in it
