Glenn's Weekly Motivational-The Good Old Days Are Here!

glenn
Glenn Anderson (Audacy Radio)

The good old days are happening right now.

My pastor has said it, Macklemore and Ke$ha have sang about it, and I'm starting to believe it.

"I wish somebody would have told me, babe. Some day, these will be the good old days.

All the love you won't forget. And all these reckless nights you won't regret.

Someday soon, your whole life's gonna change.

You'll miss the magic of these good old days"

Damn, I love that song so much.

It's important to realize that the good old days were not in your past.

They are now.

When you reflect on the past, it's easy to get nostalgic and think things were better way back then.

The lack of responsibilities, the way love felt, the music, the fashion, family members who were still here...Take me back!

Until you realize that responsibilities give you purpose, and the definition of love grows infinitely, and the music??..I mean, the music is still great. Especially when you stream Star 102 on the FREE Audacy app. The fashion is cyclical.

There's nothing you can do about your family being gone, unfortunately.

The good old days are now.

Because you can't change the past, and living in the past keeps you from growing, and worrying about the future is pointless and fills you with unnecessary anxiety.

So enjoy the moment, because that's where you are at.

The kids used to be smaller when we would go apple picking and take fall photos. We used to go to the same place, and pose them the same way, and we used to....

Stop..These are the good old days.

New photos, with new conversations, and new destinations.

And it's what you can currently control. You can make new traditions, and make new memories everyday. Stop getting stuck in how it used to be, because that's gone.

And so is Baby One More Time Britney, Drakkar Noir, and low mortgage interest rates.

Lots of people get melancholy this time of year. Beautiful scenery, but sadness about what is around the corner.

My grandma died 25 years ago today, and it leaves a hole in my heart, but I will not forget, and I will keep movin' right along like The Muppets would sing about. I miss her so much.

After all, you can remember the memories you made on that vacation, or you can concentrate on the arguments you had ...In time, you should only be left with the photo book.

And make those photo books (Thanks Cathy), and make new traditions, and make new friends, and make good pizza..because these..

Are the good old days.

All my best as you figure out life and the relationships in it.

XOXO Glenn
