Glenn's Weekly Motivational-The Human Connection

Sometimes I get a bit too personal in my writing, and this blog is no exception.

I think people connect to vulnerability, so that's why I wanna address this topic...because it serves as a reminder that some of us are struggling in certain areas.

Over the last 15 or so months, we all have been struggling in the human contact department..Only this time, there was a logical excuse.

What about before, though? How did you handle human contact? Are you outgoing? Someone who navigates the cubicles in your office like a social ninja?...Do you blanket your neighborhood with kindness, vim, and vigor? Shaking hands (fist bump 2021) like you're a politician or a salesperson for Mosquito Joe with the same deal they gave your neighbor down the street?

Don't verify my stats, but there are roughly .002% of people who do any of the above. As humans, we tend to develop "friendships" based on shared experiences, gossip, or common bitterness. How many people do you bond with by complaining about the pay, the boss, the state of the coffee pot, or which neighbor might be a qualifier for Hoarders?

Stop that.

Sometimes, we see groups of people with developed friendships and rather than attempt to be a part of it, we make excuses. Or, we pretend that we are too old or too busy for new friendships.

Stop that too.

Steph and I spent the last 5 days at a soccer tournament in Chicago with Madelyn..around parents we didn't really know. 5 days with plenty of sideline chit-chats, dinners, excursions..and wine (Chicago had 20% off, so duh)

And you know what? It was amazing. We got to know moms and dads that we never took the time to get to know. No fault of anyone, just busy doing life. Life is better now, and we all have formed bonds beyond the soccer field.

Should you be the office ninja or knock on doors in your neighborhood? No. Besides, the old people in the HOA will call the cops and report you as a solicitor (Inside joke there).

But, as Bruno Mars says..Leave the door open. See who comes into your life. Look for other open doors and how you can be a part of someone else's.

Life is better when we have people around us. God never meant for us to be locked away in our basement stroking our hairless kitty cat and having a diabolical laugh.

All my best with life and the relationships in it
