Mark Zuckerberg’s long-rumored competitor app to Twitter is here. The new app, Threads, was unveiled on Wednesday as a companion to Instagram.
Threads is defined as an app where people can have real-time, public conversations with one another. The platform allows posts up to 500 characters long, including links, photos, and videos up to five minutes in length.
Instagram Threads got two million signups in the first two hours of their early launch. The list of celebrity names on the app is long, including Shakira, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez who already have up to tens of thousands of followers.
Those interested in signing up for the new app are required to have an Instagram account for now.
