Columbus, Ohio - Tom Cruise was so impressed with the Ohio State University Marching Band's Top Gun performance, Cruise set up a screening of the new 'Maverick' sequel to reward them for their themed halftime show last November.
“Top Gun: Maverick” is scheduled to be widely released on May 27, but the OSU marching band can attend an advanced screening on Friday at the Wexner Center for the Arts on Ohio State’s campus. All the members of last year’s marching band were invited and more than 200 students and staff are expected to attend.
The band performed the Top Gun-Themed halftime show on Nov. 13, 2021. Cruise left an invitational note that was read aloud to the band during rehearsals for the Rose Bowl in late December last year.
"Dear Band, The Top Gun tribute was fantastic. What a phenomenal performance – thank you! I’d love for you all to be my guests for a special screening of Top Gun: Maverick in Columbus this Spring." - Tom Cruise
