Kids' birthday parties are expensive. Most places that host kids' birthday parties for you cost in excess of $300! Multiply that by three kids and you're up near $1000!
What if you were to put that money in to a vacation instead? $1000 is a pretty good start to a vacation and you're kids will probably remember it longer, right?
I think that this is a fantastic idea, and so does our friend Elizabeth. It's Elizabeth's family that has a problem with this idea. But why? It's not Aunt Karen's birthday! She actually has a couple of relatives that bring up the fact that they want to spend time with her kids on their birthday, but can't they still do this outside of a "party" atmosphere? I think so, but apparently Aunt Karen feels like being petty.
