APRIL 2ND: Save the Bees! Plant pollinators at home:
We've all heard that bees, butterflies, and pollinators of all kinds are vital to our enviornment's health, but how can you help? By giving them the plants they love best!
Here's your 1THING: Go grab a pollinator plant! There's plenty of easy plants that you can grow here in Georgia, and once they're flowering you'll have a beautiful community of bees and butterflies in your yard (or apartment patio) to enjoy too.
Here's the easiest way to get this done: Take a trip to your nearby plant store, and simply ask for what pollinator-friendly plants they have. They know exactly how to help.
If you're planning on your own though, here's a guide for some great plants to have here in Georgia:
Springtime Plants:
Spiderwort, Wild Indigo, or Winter Honeysuckle. You've probably seen the first, Spiderwort, popping up all over lately. They're so easy to grow they're basically weeds! And the flowers are beautiful.
Looking ahead for later in the year?
In summer, try to plant some sunflowers, Eastern Puple Coneflowers, Hyssop, Catmint, Bee Palm, St. John's Wort, or Yarrow. In the Fall to Winter, try Goldenrod and Asters. Plant some parsley and bronze fennel too! It's a food plant that butterfly larvae love.
