Metro Atlanta is starting the day with some serious weather concerns. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 a.m. across the metro area as strong thunderstorms move through the region. Radar shows heavy rain and potentially dangerous conditions throughout the morning. Temperatures are also expected to drop significantly throughout the day, falling from the mid-60s this morning to around 40 degrees by 2 p.m., so be ready for a chilly and wet afternoon.

Because of the severe weather threat, several school districts are making adjustments to keep students safe. 18 counties are starting school two hours late, including Clayton and Henry County Schools. Meanwhile, Troup County Schools are closed, and some districts in areas like Rome are shifting to virtual learning for the day.

In sports, it's a big moment for Georgia basketball fans. Both the Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball and the Kennesaw State Owls men's basketball are headed to NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. Georgia enters the tournament as an 8-seed, while Kennesaw State comes in as a 14-seed. The Bulldogs tip off Thursday night at 9:45 p.m. on CBS, while Kennesaw State hits the court at 10 p.m. on TBS.

And finally, a big thank you to the thousands of people who showed up for the Atlanta Community Food Bank Run Walk for Hunger at the Mercedes‑Benz Stadium. The annual event helps raise money to fight food insecurity across Georgia, and every dollar raised helps provide up to three meals for families in need.

Those are three things you need to know to start your day in Metro Atlanta.
