Traveling for the holidays can be brutal. From chaotic drivers, delayed or canceled flights, unexpected road delays and fights among loved ones holiday travel is not for the faint of heart. Here are four tips to ease the stress of traveling this holiday season.
1. Plan ahead.
If you're driving, have a secondary or even third route picked out ahead of time in case of bad weather, closures, or other issues and if you can plan your rest stops to maximize and enjoy the most out of your trip. If an airbus is you mode of travel, be prepared by knowing what other flights are available in case of delays or unexpected cancellations.
2. Don't jam your itinerary.
Remember it's a vacation so relax. Don't pack in too much while traveling for the holidays, it's okay to leave old friends and extended family off the itinerary - quite honestly they will be relieved when you do.
3. Stay hydrated.
It's important even during colder months. Plus if you drink enough water you'll have to go to the bathroom more often, which is the perfect excuse to get out of any unnecessary activities you DON'T want to participate in. Staying hydrated helps improve your mood, energy levels, skin AND health over all.
4. Rest.
Say it with me now: a nap is a win. Your friends and family will try their best to ruin your sleep schedule when you're traveling, BUT you need to prioritize yourself and get some rest. Getting enough sleep is vital to your health and keep you at your best.
