If you are an AVID WATCHER of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade then you know something was up with Mariah Carey's performance right at the end of the parade. While you couldn't exactly put your finger on if it was nerves, bad production or feeling sour about her losing the franchise lawsuit for the title 'Queen of Christmas', that performance was less than thrilling. A TikTok video from the Macy's parade is making its rounds showed a screen displaying the lyrics while Mariah Carey sang "All I Want for Christmas is You". So is it that the Queen of Christmas doesn't know the words to her own song and needed help singing her signature Christmas song?
A spokesperson for Macy's said the screen was there so the audience could sing along, but pointed out that it was never out during the rest of the broadcast. Fans are arguing that they were HIDING it. Some fans had other theories though, Twitter users claim the screen was a failsafe in case the in-ear monitor failed. Other fans are saying it could have been for the dancers so they could keep up, but then why were the dancers so ill prepared if they needed a teleprompter? No word from this Christmas Queen on what it was actually used for.
If you consider yourself the "Queen of Christmas" to the point where you believe you should actually own that title legally, then you better show out and remember the lyrics to your most famous Christmas song.
