The Thanksgiving Holiday basket project was created four years ago after recognizing that families in need during Christmas likely also needed help during Thanksgiving. The project provides everything they need in a reusable laundry basket, including food items and table trimmings.
The school determined the number of families in need and collected donations with the help of Beta Club and social media outreach. After further thought the team decided to also include the needs of the local elementary school as well. For 2023, the goal is to assemble and deliver the largest number of baskets yet, including a gift $100 card for each basket to help with necessary items not included in the basket.
Children are spreading awareness about the issue of hunger in their communities and taking action by preparing bins, reaching out to businesses for assistance, and banding together to assemble and deliver food baskets. Their efforts are opening people's eyes to the reality that some individuals don't have access to regular meals, and encouraging others to help.

The goal for 2023 is to deliver 70+ baskets, and the project has expanded to include high school families. In 2023, 50 baskets will be delivered to deserving families with children attending CHS. That’s more than 120 baskets delivered in this community.
