Major traffic closures are returning to the west side of Atlanta, a local photographer is helping strangers make unexpected connections and a Waffle House employee’s social media posts have cost him his job.
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that all lanes of Interstate 285 on the west side Perimeter will close for roadwork from Aug. 28 through Aug. 31. The closures will affect the stretch of I-285 between Cascade Road and Langford Parkway, and drivers should plan ahead for detours and heavier traffic in surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, an Atlanta photographer is putting a new spin on matchmaking through a trend known as “Stranger Sessions.”
The concept brings together two people who have never met for a playful photo shoot. Before being paired, participants fill out detailed questionnaires about their interests, values, hobbies and relationship deal breakers. The goal is to create a comfortable and fun experience between two strangers, with some pairings leading to connections beyond the camera.
The idea is especially appealing to those looking for new ways to meet people outside of dating apps and traditional social settings.
In another Atlanta-area story, a Waffle House employee known online as Rockstar Riley is gaining attention after being fired following his social media activity.
Riley, who created and posted a song celebrating his job and Waffle House favorites, had reportedly been told previously to remove social media content showing him in his work uniform. After continuing to post similar content, he was let go.
The situation sparked conversation about workplace social media policies and how employees can promote their jobs online while still following company rules.
