Actress Mary Steenburgen joined Kevin and Taylor on "The Feel Good Morning Show" to discuss her newest film, “The Dink,” which premieres on Apple TV. During the conversation, Steenburgen opened up about the comedy centered around pickleball, her longtime marriage to actor Ted Danson, and the lasting impact of some of her most memorable roles.

Known for her work in films and television shows including “Elf,” where she played Buddy the Elf’s mom, Steenburgen reflected on how the holiday classic continues to connect with new generations of viewers.

Steenburgen said one of the most surprising parts of the movie’s lasting popularity is how children who discover it today experience it as if it just came out.

It's been quite a while since we made it, but young children still watch that movie,” Steenburgen said. “So that from their point of view, it just happened.”

She also shared that working on “Elf” remains one of the highlights of her career, describing the experience as a memorable and enjoyable time with the cast.

The conversation also turned to Steenburgen’s marriage to fellow actor Ted Danson. After more than 30 years together, Kevin and Taylor asked if the couple ever discusses their professional accomplishments or turns their awards into friendly competition.

Steenburgen joked that while she has an Oscar, Danson has plenty of recognition of his own.

Well, it's right next to a whole bunch of Emmys that belong to him,” Steenburgen said.

The actress explained that their shared experiences in the entertainment industry have helped create a strong partnership, adding that they both appreciate each other’s work.

Steenburgen also talked about how she became involved with “The Dink,” a comedy focused on the growing popularity of pickleball. She revealed that her connection to the sport actually started before she even knew about the movie.

A couple of months before receiving the script, Steenburgen’s son gave her a pickleball paddle, and she began taking lessons and quickly became a fan of the game.

When her agent later presented her with the opportunity to join the film, the timing felt perfect.

I said, oh, no, that's the one I'm doing,” Steenburgen said.

She said the project became one of her favorite experiences because of the combination of humor and emotion within the story.
