Atlanta area professional writers, poets, and storytellers teach the only workshops and summer camp that focuses on the art of writing for middle school students. Inspiring the hero within each student through creative writing and storytelling, The Wren's Nest is offering an exciting series that includes two workshops on Saturdays (4/13 and 5/11) and a weeklong summer camp, July 8 – 12. Each Saturday Workshop is available as a stand-alone experience and costs $10/per session. The Summer Camp is priced at $300. Now in its 14th year, Scribes is open to all middle school students in Georgia. The Summer Camp is a new addition to the series. For all programs, space is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the Program: "Led by Atlanta professional writers, authors, and storytellers, this innovative program teaches skills that form the foundation for students to tell their unique stories," said Jim Auchmutey, Wren's Nest Board Co-Chair. "Children are encouraged to explore their talents and passions in a safe environment that fosters collaboration and builds on the joy of creativity." Jim is available for interviews.

The workshops are kid-friendly, fun, and include poetry meets nature and the environment with poet Olivia Ivings; exploring Sci-Fi and fantasy to capture the hero within with storyteller John Edward Doyle; and during the summer camp taking the student's stories into different media from visual to audio to text with published children's author H.D. Hunter.

The sessions emphasize:

·      Dream and Create: Students are encouraged to dream and imagine worlds where their creativity can shape their future.

·      Empowerment Through Storytelling: Students create their own stories without the fear of judgment.

·      Confidence Building: Through intentional writing exercises, ensemble activities, and collaborative storytelling, students build self-confidence and self-esteem. The program teaches them that their voices matter.
