“OMGG !! I’m soo excited to finally tell everyone that I'm on teen Vogue 💗! this is a dream come true, never in million years would I've thought I was gonna be on teen vouge but look at me now 🥰! I'm so thankful & grateful for this opportunity 💗!!” Thompson wrote to her personal Instagram page, along with more glamorous photos from the day.
The 15-year-old is known for her rambunctious and spunky personality from TLC’s hit show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”
The star sat down for a personal interview with the magazine and discussed her experience growing up with fame and her troubled relationship with her mother, Mama June.
“I want to be the best I can be, and I want to make my money, and I also want to make straight A's, so I just try my hardest,” Thompson told the magazine.
In 2019, Thompson’s mother, Mama June, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges. Thompson’s older sister, “Pumpkin” Shannon was given legal guardianship over her at the age of 21.
“A lot of folks in this world do not realize how many people are actually really affected by drug and alcohol [use],” the teen said. “When my mama got real bad with her [drug use], I didn't know where I was going to end up…I'm proud of myself for how far I've come.”
She added, “It's very, very hard. It's something I'd wish on nobody, for real.”
After years of living in the spotlight, Thompson is reflecting on her personal growth and journey towards finding her new identity.
“Just because I'm from the South, people expect me to be all country bumpkin, out riding four wheelers all the time, but that's not really how it is,” Thompson said. “There are so many folks on my Instagram that do not like my nails or my eyelashes. But I do not care. As long as I like myself, I'm good.”
“I don't ever look at people and I'm like, ‘Oh, I wish I was like her,’” she added. “Because I don't ever wish to be like nobody. I am my own person.”
