It truly seems like every movie out there is getting a prequel, sequel, or whatever else. And though we believe some things should be left alone, it seems that for Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, that isn’t going to be the case. That being said, at least they’ve casted Bad Bunny.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will be joining Sandler in the sequel to the 1996 cult-classic sports comedy, Happy Gilmore 2.

The original Happy Gilmore follows the story of a failed hockey player who discovers a talent for golf and competes in paid tournaments to earn money to prevent the foreclosure of his beloved grandmother’s house.

Both plot details and Benito’s role for the sequel are being kept under wraps. Though we do know the project will be helmed by Netflix, and directed by Kyle Newacheck, who also directed the Sandler’s  2019 Netflix movie, Murder Mystery, also starring Jennifer Aniston.

We also know the sequel will see the return of Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald. Both of whom starred in the original film, respectively, as Virginia Venit, Sandler’s onscreen love interest, and Shooter McGavin, a jealous golf pro and the film’s villain. And thanks to Adam’s appearance on The Tonight Show last month, we also know that Travis Kelce will also be making an appearance in the film.

Sharing a behind the scenes peek pic on Instagram, Sandler wrote, “It ain’t over. The way I see… we’ve only just begun,” alongside a photo of Happy’s Boston Bruins jersey, signaling that cameras have started rolling.

Benito first made his acting debut in 2021 as Arturo “Kitty” Paez in the drug-dealing drama Narcos: México on Netflix. He starred opposite Brad Pitt in 2022’s Bullet Train, which followed by playing and Gael García Bernal in Cassandro, released in 2023. In addition to his addition to the Happy Gilmore 2 cast, up next, he has Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing.
