The 33-year-old “I’m Good” singer tends to stay rather private about her personal life, however Rexha revealed that she has separated from her boyfriend of three years, Keyan Safyari, during a London concert this week.
Before singing her breakup song “Atmosphere,” she admitted to the crowd that it would hit a little too close to home this time. “Now I just went through a breakup so I might get a little emotional, so you need to help me here,” she told her fans, and pressed on through the ballad. Later in the night, a small group of fans held up signs that said, "You Are Enough." As seen in fan videos Rexha quipped, “You really are trying to make a b**** cry.” She then became teary-eyed before joking, “Is my makeup messed up now? I feel like we should go back into dance music.”
The fan-made sign was clearly in reference to the publicized texts discussing her weight gain, which appeared to be from Safyari. Posted on Twitter just two weeks ago, the text reads in part, “I never said you weren’t beautiful and I never said I didn’t love you. In fact I said how beautiful you are and how much I loved you. But I always said I would be honest with you and your face was changing so I told you it was… Because I care, would you rather I lied to you? You gained 35 pounds obviously you gained weight and your face changes? Should I just pretend it didn’t happen and that it’s ok?”
The message also hints that there were other problems in the relationship, accusing Rexha of, “trying to find reasons to break up” before ultimately ending with a veiled remark to “get to the root of the problem.” The singer had previously revealed that her weight gain was a result of being diagnosed with PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, and it caused her to struggle with her body image. “A lot of women have it and don't know," Rexha told Gayle King back in May, noting her most common side effect was weight gain. "It's tough. I think for me, I've been definitely struggling with my weight and I've been struggling with food forever… but it’s important who you keep around you.”
When Rexha posted the text to her Twitter (though quickly deleted), fans were quick to come to her defense calling the person a fat-shamer, if not extremely insensitive to her condition. The breakup doesn’t come as a surprise given the circumstances, but is still obviously affecting the singer.
Wishing Bebe Rexha the best moving forward, hoping she's good and she's feeling alright.
