During a recent appearance on the Life Is Short podcast, Mulligan told host, Justin Long, the pair initially met at Christian camp as kids and would fax one another to keep in touch.
“We went to camp together when we were kids… like a Christian camp.” Mulligan shared. “We went both two years in a row and that was it. Then we were pen pals with faxes. We would fax because fax machines were cool then.”
After time, the faxes dwindled and Mulligan shared she didn’t reconnect with Mumford until a trip to Nashville when she was 24 and flew out for a trip, knowing she’d see Marcus, before she started filming for a new project.
“We kind of lose contact in our early-mid teens and then we didn’t meet again until I was like, 24,” she said. “I went to Nashville and he was playing in someone’s basement there with the band… it was like a house party.”
Things moved quickly from there and now, the couple is nearing their 11th wedding anniversary in April.
