During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Parton revealed she has a song buried in a time capsule in her Dollywood theme park that is intended to be dug up on the park’s 30th anniversary in 2045. Parton will be 99.
The Country queen was not shy in sharing she regrets burying the song and has thought about digging it up early to ensure she’ll be around for its release.
“You have no idea how that has bothered me,” she told Kelly Clarkson. “I wanna go dig that up so bad. It’s a really good song!”
She continued, “I don’t know whose damn idea that was,” she laughed. “They weren’t expecting me to be there at all, and I probably won’t be. I might be there, who knows. I figure it’ll probably disintegrate and nobody will ever hear it, that’s what bothers me. If it rots in there before they open it.”
While Parton has 23 years until the time capsule dig, there are only days until she counts down a new year with goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. The pair is set to welcome 2023 in style with Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party on NBC and Peacock. Tune in beginning at 10:30PM ET on 12/31.
