Now available everywhere, stardust is the first full EP from the Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires star, and Skye shares that her track, "silent treatment" is really the centerpiece of it all, turning heartbreak into hits for the 16-year-old UK singer.
"I was really proud of it and how quick it came to be, and I think it's probably one of my most honest songs," the young star shares. "I think it's hard to admit that cause, I think it can often be, not embarrassing, but I think you can feel a bit like, 'oh my gosh, this is so strange, how has this happened to me.'"
"I was really kind of happy with how it turned out and now I feel like I can look at what was a really bad situation as something that I'm like, 'hey, well now I get to do this because of that,' so thank you to the person who ghosted me."
"It kind of felt like the centerpiece that we could start building the rest of the EP around," Freya reveals, admitting that the track came about as she was really finding her sound.
After joking that her brand is "heartbreak, sadness, overthinking," Skye shares that this EP is a step down the right path for her sonically. "I'm definitely still navigating it, but I think for a long time I was doing things and I was like, 'oh I love it but it doesn't feel quite like me,' and I didn't have a word for what 'me' was, I don't even think I still know what 'me' is, but I think 'silent treatment' was the first step in a direction that I was like, 'oh, this does feel like something that kind of reflects my life and how I feel and how I want to present myself.' Then I think the rest of the EP, I feel like comes at this kind of like, heartbreak at every different angle, in all ways that still feel like me too."
"I don't know if there's a word for it but it all just feels like, right, like without being so cliche, it just feels like a good step."
