So while this next bit of news seems almost criminal to our millennial brains, it also kind of makes a lot of sense. Apparently, Gwen Stefani had to explain to her son that before she was a solo artists and coach on The Voice, she used to “Rock Steady” with No Doubt.

After it was announced that No Doubt would be reuniting on the Coachella 2024 stage, Stefani seemed to have to fill her boy in on her lead singer days with guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young, as well as the significance of heading such an iconic festival, which he additionally didn’t have a clue about either.

Sharing that the reception to the reunion news has made her "completely overwhelmed,” while talking to People, Gwen also expressed, "I definitely have that little thing in your stomach where you're like, 'Oh my gosh! What?'" she said. "It's going to be amazing.”

As for having to explain her epic-ness to her son, Stefani said, "I had to literally lay in bed with Apollo and he’s like, 'But mom, what is Coachella? Everyone’s saying it. What is this? It sounds like it’s a big deal,'" she told the outlet. "So we had to watch the 'Don’t Speak' video. And he’s like, 'But wait, which one was your boyfriend?' It was so weird and so funny.”

The answer to that, btw, if you didn’t already know, is Tony Kanal, whom Gwen dated from 1987 to 1994. Despite Kanal ending their relationship, the former couple were able to remain friends as they lyrically noted in "Don't Speak."

The singer noted that like her 10-year-old son, some of her younger fans still might have no clue about her rock band days, since the group’s last album dropped in 2012, and they haven’t performed together since 2015.

"That's how much time’s gone by because he's going to be 10! It's just another miracle and a blessing. And it was surreal for me," she told the magazine. "I feel like we're in the future and lightning just struck and No Doubt is like, 'Here we are!'"
