It’s been an exciting week for Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The pair publicly revealed their new starring roles in the upcoming Universal Pictures film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Wicked.

The news brought forth lots of attention and congratulatory celebrations for Grande who will star as Glinda and Erivo as Elphaba, but perhaps no well-wishes compare to those expressed by Idina Menzel, who won a Tony Award for playing Elphaba on Broadway.
"Congrats to two amazing women," Menzel expressed via Instagram. "May it change your lives for the better forever and ever as it has for us. So much love.”
Menzel isn’t the only one excited for the two new Wicked stars. Film director Jon M. Chu also gushed over them with a social post the shared screenshots of Grande and Erivo’s faces the moment they were told they landed their parts.
"These two witches!!" Jon wrote. ”The emotional moment I got to tell @cynthiaerivo and @arianagrande that they were our Elphaba and Galinda in the @WickedMovie for @unistudios. Wait until you see what they bring!! It is other worldly. Ahhhhh!!!"
No release date has been rereleased for the highly-anticipated movie, but filming is believed to begin later this year.
