Ina Garten, who is about to unveil her newest cookbook to the world, is making her stance known on the sourdough bread phase that hit the country during the coronavirus pandemic.
While the past several months have shown an uptick in interest for various cooking ventures, many would agree that the amount of sourdough bread baking attempts go unmatched.
That said, Garten believes that the trend won't be sticking around for much longer.
In an interview on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Garten said, "The thing that happened was everything was so busy, everybody was running around like crazy and then all of the sudden it was just stopped. It was quiet."
She continued, "I think we really got back to the stuff that was important, which is cooking and taking care of the people around us, maybe roasting something and leaving it at a neighbor's house."
Now, people are likely getting bored of the sourdough craze, Garten believes. "I can't tell you how many people emailed me and said 'what should I do about the sourdough starter' and I am like, I've never made a sourdough bread in my life," she said.
She continued, "I had to make stuff up. I think [the trend] is going to last for about five minutes. It was maybe the first week of the pandemic I got a lot of questions, after that, nothing."
