“I was very nervous about making a new Pop record, and Michael and I were talking about music, and he was just reflecting on how he feels like I'm my happiest when I'm making Pop songs,” Gaga shares. “I realized how long I had stepped away from it, in kind of the initial way that I fell in love with Pop music. And you know, I've always tried to reinvent myself musically. I've always been a student of music. I've always wanted to try new things, but with ‘MAYHEM,’ I kind of wanted to embrace my early musical, sonic, and visual aesthetic.”
"Mayhem is everything and I've always felt like I was a lot of contradicting forces at one time, and that life has a lot of contradictions. So this is kind of taking a look at that and making it a party that we can all go to because that's life."
“I hope that my fans feel so much with this new music,” LG explains. “I mostly hope that you just have the best time ever with your friends and your family dancing and smiling and enjoying, and I made this music for you. I wanted you to have the best time. I wanted you to have an experience with music that was also truly from my heart.”
“It's OK to be a lot of conflicting things and you don't have to make sense all the time. We're all human beings. We don't always make sense, but that mayhem is yours and you are the conductor of your own symphony, and you get to decide how the music sounds.”
