Ms. Lauryn Hill and Fugees cancel US tour days before start

Just days before it was set to kick off, Lauryn Hill has quietly canceled the U.S. leg of her co-headlining tour with the Fugees.

After initially extending the tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her iconic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which was scheduled to start on Friday, August 9 in Tampa, Florida, on Tuesday, August 7 ticket-holders received notification that the tour had been canceled and refunds would be issued.

It's a place hopeful Hill concertgoers have found themselves before, when she previously called off her 2023 tour due to “serious vocal strain.” And same for Fugees fans in 2021, when their reunion tour was postponed and finally canceled in 2022 due to COVID concerns.

"Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour," Hill shared in a lengthy statement on Instagram. "The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal."

"Performing for my fans, is a profound exchange of energy and emotion that excites me every time. Every show is a piece of my expression and testament to our connection and shared love for music. I can assure you that no one is more disappointed about not being able to perform than I am."

While all U.S. dates have been subsequently removed from Ticketmaster, it seems the European leg is still slated to go down as scheduled. "The audiences in the UK and Europe not only haven’t seen the Miseducation Anniversary performance yet, they also haven’t seen the Fugees perform together in over 25 years!" Hill continued.

"Know that I am not only grateful for those who appreciate and support my art, but that I FIGHT and push through all kinds of resistance to put together experiences that mean something for all of us. I love being able to bring these performances to you!"
