The unveiling will take place April 21 on ABC during an episode of American Idol as 2022 Rock hall honoree, Lionel Richie and Idol host, Ryan Seacrest take the stage to announce the 2024 honorees from this year’s ballot. Nominated artists include Mary J. BligeMariah CareyCherDave Matthews BandEric B. & RakimForeignerPeter FramptonJane's AddictionKool & the GangLenny KravitzOasisSinead O'ConnorOzzy Osbourne, Sade and A Tribe Called Quest.

Richie and Seacrest are also set to reveal the fan pick, which earns the winning artist a vote towards induction among the other approximate 1,000 Hall of Fame members who vote. Winning the fan vote does not guarantee induction, but is surely an honor in itself.

For example, Matthews won the fan vote in 2020, however did not receive enough votes overall to be inducted. “If there’s any outcome that could arguably be better than actually getting into the Hall – not to say there’s anything better than getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – but if there was anything better, it would be if the fans overwhelmingly voted for you to get in and you still weren’t let in,” Matthews told Ultimate Classic Rock. “I can live with that.”

Dave Matthes Band is nominated again this year and according to one the final updates before the fan vote closed this year, they were once again leading with more than 586,000 votes followed by Frampton with around 528,000.

See who takes home the win as well as all official inductees be revealed by tuning into American Idol on ABC at 8PM ET / 7PM CT April 21.
