The pair come together for a brand new rendition of Carpenter’s hit, “Please, Please, Please,” featured on the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album, which released February 14. In addition to the debut of the song, the two came together for a Thelma and Louise style music video which was also available on Valentine’s Day.
“Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!” The 25-year-old wrote on socials with a clip from the black and white music video. “I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.”
While the pair clearly share a sweet new friendship, they didn’t play nice when it came to throwing shade at Carpenter’s ex, actor Barry Keoghan. Keoghan starred in the original video alongside Carpenter as they were dating at the time. In the new video, after Parton can be seen handing a shovel to Carpenter in the bed of the truck, the pair get bombarded with lights and sirens.
As the truck escapes the sirens, the camera pans to a male laying in the bed with his head covered and wearing the exact same outfit Keoghan did in the original video. It’s clear Carpenter came for revenge as the video ends with her shaking her head as the male pounds on the truck window. See the full video below.
“Please, Please Please (feat. Dolly Parton)” is one of a five bonus tracks on the Deluxe Album. The others include “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman” and “Bad Reviews.”
Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) is available now.
