Rumors of a divorce between Britney Spears and her husband of 14 months, Sam Asghari, have been flying and according to recent reports, they have now been confirmed.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, 29-year-old Asghari filed for divorce from the Pop star on August 16, 2023 listing a separation date of July 18, 2023 and citing "irreconcilable differences" as the main reason.
The couple has a prenup, which reportedly has Spears’ assets listed as separate property. According to comments from Asghari’s lawyer, Neal Hersh, Sam has plans to contest the prenup.
"[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party,” the documents obtained by TMZ read. "There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time."
The couple was together for seven years total after they met on the set of Spears’ "Slumber Party" music video. Rumors of their split started to spread after the couple had an argument one source described to TMZ as “nuclear.”
