One man’s daughter is the recruiter of the year after she helped him get a job at a Costco in Michigan by doing some social media cheerleading for him in a Twitter thread.
On Tuesday, Twitter user @mixbecca shared a photo of her father’s new Costco name badge with an ecstatic caption.
“MY DAD GOT A JOB AT COSTCO BECAUSE OF TWITTER LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,” she wrote.
Go on...
She explained: “For those out of the loop: i wrote this thread last month, the costco ceo saw it ????, sent an email to the managers in SE mi, they reached out to me, i told my dad to applied, and now!!!! my dad gets to work at costco!!! which he's always wanted!!! the internet is so weird!!!!”
@mixbecca first posted on the platform on May 6 that her father was out of work due to the pandemic.
In the post, she wrote that when she asked her pops where he’d like to work, he specified the wholesale club chain.
“My dad has been laid off due to covid and now that he's vaccinated he's itching to go back to work, so i told him i'd help him with his resume. i asked him where he wants to work, and he said, SO earnestly, ‘costco seems like a nice place’ i'm gonna cry lol,” she explained.
Over the next day, she then proceeded to reply to this initial tweet with more missives talking about her dad and her quest to get him hired.
One of her challenges was her dad’s “painfully dad-like” email that he “had since before I was born.” When she suggested one address to him as a joke, he said it actually had a ring to it.
“I was teasing him and said i was going to make his email ‘pleasehiremydad @ gmail’ and he goes ‘hey, that'd get my attention!’” she wrote.
She also called on help from her boyfriend — who she said looks at resumes all day at the cleaning company that he owns — and asked if he could help spicing up her father’s. The “skills” she listed for her dad that she sent to her boyfriend hilariously included “Help him david,” “please,” “get this man a job,” “please just hire this man at costco.”
She also shared a smiley pic of her dad, saying he is “a constantly cheerful man, extremely good at making nachos, who merely dreams of working for costco,” before making one simple request of the chain.
“Costco ik ur not on twitter but if you see this please don’t let him down my dad is very nice. look at how proud he is,” she wrote.
Two weeks later on May 19, @mixbecca shared a screenshot of a Facebook message she got from the manager of a nearby Costco location saying the CEO saw her tweets and wanted to get the wheels in motion for a possible interview.
“Our CEO was made aware of your tweet regarding your dad wanting to work for Costco and it’s made its way to my desk through various channels,” the message read.
“What’s your Dad’s name? Has he filled out an application on our website? That would be the first necessary step for a possible interview,” the manager explained.
Her dad did go on to apply, and while she was anxious waiting for a response, dad seemed to take it all in stride. @mixbecca posted photos of his fishing after the big app went out.
On Tuesday, she shared the ultimate update in the Costco-hiring-dad saga: a Costco employee badge with his name, Jeff, on it.
“GUYS,” she captioned the pic.
Since he got the gig, it sounds like Jeff is a true company man.
She explained "my dad already tried to convince me to sign up for a costco membership lol. man hasn't even started yet. what have i done."
But that doesn't mean she's not beaming with joy. At the time of publication, her name on the platform was displayed as: "rebecca mix, proud daughter of a costco employee."
