Well, that’s one way to get the police’s attention.
A 31-year old man is facing charges in Australia after allegedly ramming a police car with a stolen vehicle, causing it to flip over, and then assaulting officers who tried to help him after he crashed into a tree.
Footage shared by the Western Australia Police Force on May 27 shows the incident where a stolen Toyota Landcruiser was used in Condingup, a rural community around 500 miles from Perth, to purposely stop police activity.
According to the police department, officers were preparing to deploy a tire deflation device to apprehend the stolen car when the driver crossed “to the wrong side of the road to directly ram the police vehicle.”
The impact of the crash made the police car “roll onto its roof, and the stolen vehicle crossed back to the correct side of the road and crashed into a tree,” said authorities.
Police officers rescued the man from the vehicle and provided emergency first aid, though according to the police department, the man proceeded to strike one of the officers and spit on another during this time.
The man now faces several charges including the theft of a vehicle, reckless driving, an unlawful act with intent to harm, assaulting a public officer, and breaching of bail.
He was denied bail and is set to appear in court on July 1.
