As part of Complex‘s The Face-Off short series, Eminem and an AI version of himself as a young Slim Shady banter back-and-forth. “An industry first in using the cutting-edge technology from a creative visual standpoint,” as per the press release.”
Throughout the 12-minute scripted video, written by Complex’s Chief Content Officer and industry veteran, Noah Callahan-Bever, “the conversation between present day Marshall Mathers and a younger Slim Shady addresses the longstanding criticisms Eminem has faced over the course of his career.”
To deliver the cutting-edge video, still imagery, archival photo, video and audio footage of a 20-year younger Slim Shady was used to face swap on live actor performances, which as the release went on to note, resulted “in a compelling feature interview that has Eminem quite literally facing his past.”
“I’m back because you got your nuts tucked so tightly between your legs f***ing Caitlyn Jenner would be jealous,” the digital Slim Shady spewed. “Are you just like allergic to not being an a**hole?,” the real Eminem defensively retorted.
Before going on to compare Slim to South Park‘s Cartman and Family Guy, Eminem complained about how since discovering his alter ego, Gen Z attempts to come up with new reasons to cancel him every week. “Every other week on TikTok, Gen Z discovers you on Monday and cancels me on Tuesday,” Em expressed.
